You are really thinking the wrong way spiderman.
Clove oil is one of the best remedy used still to cure toothache, and you are thinking that it will affect teeth?
Oral plaque prevention, antiseptic, antifungal, and anti-bacterial properties are all included when talking about clove oil.
Tooth pain is very well resisted by using clove and its oil has many positive properties. Don't think the other way, but still, don't be completely addicted to cloves.

chewing clove have benefit of pain killer property, so it is being used widely to reduce toothache and as well as a mouth freshener. Also as an antiseptic, antifungal and so so as drchetan mentioned. However excess use of cloves can cause yellowish discolaration of the teeth. So keep this in mind and reduce your clove chewing. The Content in the forums is not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Spiderman, you are actually using a natural product which is good since it wont cause any harm.
Cloves have a host of beneficial effects, apart from being an anti-bacterial, it also has antifungal and antiseptic properties.
It also prevents plaque formation.
The products available in thm arket have loads of sugar so in the long run, they do more harm [not sure if i can quote the products]
I remember my peadiatrics HOD having cloves while taking our clinics.visit http://surgeryandmedicine.blogspot.com/ for medical related stuff
