I have chronic urinary tract infections. I now
have quite a bit of blood in my urine. Is this normal? I have had Chronic urinary tract infections for about 5 years. This last year they have gotten worse. I now have quite a bit of blood in my urine. My doctor says its normal, but my daughter is worried. Should I be worried?I am taking Warfarin (for a blood clot in my leg) and can not take cranberry pills. My doctor says the only thing I can do is take a daily antibiotic, probably for the rest of my life. Also, its my understanding that chronic urinary infection are quite common in older women (I am 67)

Blood in the urine during a UTI is normal, mine were the same way as well. I hope they start to ease away soon. My infections are unbearable as I have told my doctor I would rather be in a accident with a semi, no joke intended. But i would not worry about the blood is should subside with the treatment of the infection. Good luck. Also to help prevent drink cranberry juice or take cranberry pills daily and they help ;)

You should definitely go see another Dr. You may have some kidney issues, as well. Hematuria is not normal, even with an infection. You should check to see if you have proteinuria as well. Good luck.

Try unsweetened cranberry products as well as blueberry products. I also would try to focus more on prevention, whats causing all these UTI's? Diet? Meds? Cleanliness? I only have one kidney, so a UTI is VERY serious, and I would want to prevent them because they can and do cause scaring and lowered efficiency.
