Sister has Hepatitis C?

I recently found out that my sister has Hepatitis C. My other two sisters and I are having a hard time letting the sister that has this disease be around our families. We are uncomfortable around her and afraid she will pass this disease on to us and our families. The holidays were bad....we did'nt want to eat any food she brought over and wanted to bleach everything she came in contact with.Are we being too protective or what?

Hepatitis C can only be transmitted by blood. Touching your sister, kissing her or eating the food she prepared should not give you or your family hepatitis C. There are at least 5 different kinds of hepatitis (recently a couple more has been discovered). Only Hepatitis A and E can be transmitted by contaminated food (ie if the one who prepared the food did not wash their hands after using the bathroom - yuck!) since those types of Hepatitis are present in stool. Hepatitis B, C and D are blood-borne.
