You might try websites at UC Davis College of Veterinary Medicine, Davis, Ca.; Washington State University, College of Veterinary Medicine, Pullman, Washington....or try their main telephone numbers..You and your horse are up against a tough situation; Keep him as comfortable as you can while you are seeking further information on equine lung cancer.......The best to you and keep your chin up...we're thinking of you!!

If you are in the Pennsylvania area, you might want to look at the New Bolton center. Any treatment you try will probably run into the hundreds of thousands of dollars. I was in a similar situation to you when my horse had two choking incidents back to back and cancer of the Esoghagus was discussed. He died two days after the last one, without eating again. It was very sad, but I was a bit gratefull because I knew I could not afford a hefty vet bill and making that final decision would have been very hard for me.Good luck with your search and I wish you the best. Remember, though, he's had a good life with you and if his time is up, then at least he had you in his final hours.

As far as I know the treatment that they offer is mainly experimental and as in humans, not very effective, has side effects that cant be for-told and makes them very sick.(Chemo is a form of poison, it attacks any fast growing cell, cancer is not the only cell that grows fast) If it was my horse and my decision, I would not hesitate to have him put to sleep while he is still happy and without pain. I have been there and it is peaceful, the only reason I found it hard to do was because I was being selfish and didn't want him to leave me. But because he had a good vet, who told me what I was going to put him through, did he have a peaceful and pain free passing. I still miss him to this day, I probably will to the day I die, but I know that I never put him through any pain that he did not deserve. Hope this helps
