Earlier this week, we noticed that one of our kitties had blood in her urine. We noticed it since she missed the litter box and it was on the floor. We have an appt with our vet, actually, it was supposed to be today but we got over a foot of snow so she rescheduled for Monday.Has anyone ever encountered this and if so, what was the diagnosis?Thanks,Thanks...we did call the vet immediately, today was the first appointment they had available.

I've never encountered this, but it sounds like something is wrong with her bladder or uterus. Hey, keep that appt with the Vet. This is the best thing you could do right now.

Yes, the cat was "spraying" sort of blood in her urine. The vet said it could be a possible urinary tract infection and gave us some medication for it.

Unfortunately, kitty could be suffering from a Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disorder. The veterinarian will be able to better diagnose the problem, but in the mean time you may want to see if your local pet store carries Purina CNM-UR, or similar cat foods designed to help with FLUTD.In most cases, the disorder is spotted before any real damage is done to the animal, and before blockage occurs. Most cases can be cured with simple anti-biotics. Just be sure to make it to that appointment!Good luck!

It sounds like your cat has a urinary track infection. That can be dangerous if left untreated and very uncomfortable for the cat. It may not be good to wait until MOnday, but I guess you have no choice. I would call your vet, and ask what you can do to help her over the weekend. Its probably important that she drink a lot of water. Soft food might be best for right now, and try adding some water in the soft food too. I wouldnt feel comfortable waiting that long though. Poor thing. If she does have a UTI, she will be given antibiotics..usually a small pill that you have to give the cat. Make sure your litter box is super clean too.

It could be the onset of kidney failure. Kidney failure is the number one killer of house cats. Go to the vet, make sure he feels for lumps, and does a thorough checkup.
