I feel with you. I had asthma but did not have an attack in many years. These are a few things that helped. If you smoke, you should have stopped last week.Try to learn to control your coughing. You can not stop it, you can control sometimes the force you use in coughing. It will help.Sleep with two or three cushions (allergen free)Take long, warm showers or baths. Try to live in a clean and dustfree surrounding.Do not drink milk or dairy products, they produce phlegm.Try to get an allergy test.If you really start wheezing, ask a doctor for medicine. There are two types: in case of an attack, others for maintenance. Some medicine against asthma can prevent your from sleeping. If you are overweight: slim down. Take exercise as much as you can. Walking is better that sitting.Edit: Yes: one of the first answers: Hot tea with honey! I used to drink sometimes hot water with lemmon and honey. It is ghastly to drink, but is helps. You must drink it when it is still scalding hot. I used to drink it with herbal tea as well.
