View Full Version : Why do we eat when we're stressed?
I have noticed that whenever my father comes home from moths of being away, I always tend to eat more and be much more stressed out, and I was wondering why. I just found it quite odd that on any normal occasion I could barely eat 3/4 of my serving at olive garden, but when he's home I can finish it all off (at the same appetite level as when he's not home) no problem without showing signs of slowing down.

I like the comfort of a full belly, its makes me feel warm.I have had to watch this action, since I do eat when I'm stressed or more so when I'm bored.Best wishes. this is a serious issue, so keep a logbook of food and that reality check is enough to change the actions

Perhaps it's because food is the easiest thing to reach for......beats me

Maybe (just maybe) it's from back when we we're babies and every time we'd cry our parennts would stick a bottle or boob in our faces and on some subconcious level we learned to comfort ourselves with food. Maybe...

maybe its something to express your stress, instead of just breaking down and crying....

when we are in stress our mind wants to divert our attention to any other things so some eats too much or sleep long.

It produces serotonin, especially if it's loaded with carbs.
