...and if so, did you research it first? I wasn't prepared to make the decision of whether or not to have my child vaccinated with the Hepatitis B vaccine 16 hours after he was born. I was told it was routine and so agreed to it. After researching it online I've read many negative things about it and even found a doctor who said he does not give this vaccine in his office to infants because it just hasn't been out there long enough. I regret allowing all those chemicals into my son's body so early on. I'm aware of how Hepatitis B is contracted and my child would have to be bitten my another infected with the disease to get it, because he certainly won't be having sex or using IV drugs in the near future. I'm not against the vaccine per say but would like to wait at least until he is of school age to receive it. I personally think there are way too many chemicals being injected into infants before there immune systems have the chance to develop. My son was premature so his immune system is even more immature.

We have had one hell of a time with our son and vaccines. Our last round he got really sick because he had a teething infection that was elevated by the 3 shots he had. What we are now doing is setting up a schedule to get one vaccine at a time. There are some (3rd whooping cough for instance) that we are not even going to get. This seems to limit the illness and challenges that we have faced so far.Best of luck.

I waitd til her 2 month appt because I saw no reason for it at birth and honestly saw no reason for it at 2 months but did it anyway and I don't really know why I said yes.. probably to avoid an argument with the doctor. I know the doc in the hospital was all pissy because I refused it at birth, but too bad for her. As with all of her vaccines I just make sure its preservative free (no thimiserol / mercury).

I didn't research it first but decided to get the vaccine after a relative was diagnosed with Hep. C from a blood transfusion that wasn't properly screened. I figured that there was no telling what could happen in the near future and that it was better to be safe than sorry. As soon as our children are born, we put them at risk and it's best to do all we can to keep them safe. Even some things that are meant to keep them safe (like a blood transfusion to save his or her life) can go awry. It's so difficult to raise children but at least I know that I did all I could to give my child the best.

i thumbs downed cuz you said not to. you have to by law get your kid vaccinated if you want him to attend school and get a job and all that. but..it isnt necessary to give a baby a Hep B vac. The odds they'll get it are well..more than 1 in a mil.

Nope, I refused for my son. I have done extensive research on all vaccines and have decide to not vaccinate my son at all. I don't agree with injecting potentially harmful chemicals into my children, especially when they are not tested for carcinogenic or teratogenic properties, or effects on fertility. As for the HepB, even the CDC states that babies are not a risk group for HepB unless mother is infected. They really only give it to babies in the "We better get 'em while they are here" mindset, not because they are a risk group and need it.
