i get cluster headaches -- they are horribly intense and pain killers do nothing to help. currently doctors are prescribing calcium channel blockers for them. i would google clusters and see if that is what you might have. it sounds like you need another doctor. painkillers don't work for headaches -- ask anyone that suffers from severe headaches.

i am only going on what pains my husband haves in his neck and headaches, he went to the doctor as he was worried it may have been something wrong with him, and was told he had arthritis in his neck and prescribe very strong pain killers and the same effect you have.he just lays in bed that hour of the morning and reads a book until he falls asleep.
