...or clinic who dispenses pain medication? My husband has TERRIBLE lower back pain and has had it for about a month now. It's getting worse, he doesn't have health insurance, we tried acupuncture, but nothing's helping. At this point, he just needs to manage the pain so he can work. Can anyone help?

Have you tried a charity hospital? The visits should be free there and any meds should be very cheap.

Most of us will go through this sooner or later. Usually, drugs just do not cut it or if they do only for a short time basis. I would go to alternative medicine resources and see what they have to offer. I know that there are many pain management centers all over that deal with many ways to help people get out of pain. Try asking your doc to ref err you to a center like this, there are plenty of choices, you do not have to settle, and if one thing does not work then try another. persistence is a virtue here.

You could ask for a referral from your Primary Doctor. He will not refer you to a Pain Doctor until you have tried some pain meds that your Primary Doctor prescribes first. A month is not long enough to be referred to a Pain Doctor. A Primary Doctor will work with you with pain meds, physical therapy, etc. This is expensive without insurance. Sorry that you do not have health insurance. Check with your state. Most states have health insurance that you can buy on a sliding scale. Our state has a very good one. Maybe your state does too.

I don't know of a doctor. But I do recommend using a B vitamin supplement. Just try it.
