Okay I'm 27 weeks pregnant. Last night at bedtime after laying down my lower abdomen starting hurting really bad on the left side. The pain was only on the one side, and it was like a sharp stabbing pain right above my public area (way at the bottom of my uterus). I felt the part that was hurting... there was a hard area where the pain was (my right side had no hard part and did not hurt). Then my whole left abdomen was hurting but mostly at the bottom. It hurt really bad for at least 5 minutes. I thought it might be Braxton-Hicks contractions but I thought it was your whole uterus that contracted, not just one small area that hurts really bad. And they are not supposed to be stabbing pain as I understand. Why??I would say it's round ligament pain but they are supposed to last a short time:"The sharp, jabbing type of round ligament pain shouldn't last longer than the few seconds in which you're changing position or getting up."And like I said, mine lasted 5 minutes.Oops I meant to say pubic area not "public area".... lol

i had the same problem when i was pregnant with my first. i asked the doctor what was wrong and he told me it was because ur uterus is growing.. its a muscle and when it stretches it can hurt sometimes. dont worry as long as ur not spotting any.. its just one of the joys of pregnancy!! enjoy it!!

Most likely it was just round ligament pain... which just in case your doctor hasnt told you is completely normal and can sometimes take your breath away. All it is is just your muscles stretching to accomidate your baby and everyting else included. Don't be too worried. But if it is really bothering you go to the doctor and they can make sure nothing is wrong.
