If the pregnancy is 6 to 14 weeks, the doctor gently opens the cervical canal by inserting and removing tapered rods of increasing diameter. Once the cervix is opened appropriately, the doctor inserts a hollow tube (cannula) which is attached to a vacuum aspirator. This machine provides a very gentle suction that will clean out the contents of the uterus including the fetus and placenta. The doctor then uses a spoon shaped instrument (curette) to check the walls of the uterus for any tissue that may remain. During the procedure? It depends on how far along the mother is and the clinic that is performing the abortion. I suggest doing a google search to find the information you are looking for, unfortunately all you'll likely get is people who don't actually answer the question and just spam you with abortion is murder comments. That being said I am pro-life, but I also understand that I am not going to change someone's mind about abortion by posting comments in an online forum.

Ok there are some answers that are ruder than others, but this is mine. I am Catholic and Pro-life, and devinetly believe that abortion is the killing of a fetus. Because the fact of the matter is that if you are pregnant, and you are carrying a fetus, then that is something that is growing inside of you, and trying to become a baby. So yes you are killing a fetus. If you are pregnant, i sure hope to God that you choose live, and if you feel that you can't keep the baby, please, please, please, give it up for adoption. There are so many deserving families out there, that so want a baby and cant concieve. God be with you, and I'll pray for you and your unborn child.

For all the rough guys who already answered, an abortion not necesarily means a deliberated act, and in some cases, it is legal in every contry where abortion would be ilegal otherwise (for example, if the pregnancy is risking the mother life, or if she got pregnant as the outcome from a rape). It's also called abortion the procedure required to remove an already death fetus from a miscarrying.Back to the original question, I cannot provide an answer. An abortion is an intrusive procedure, wheter chemical of physical, and it deppends on several factors, notoriously (and obviously), the professionalism and resourses used to perform it. A professional procedure shouln't lead to further physical consecuences, unless something odd happens, but a non professional one is very likely to lead to consecuences, typically infections, physical damage to the uterus, and in the worst cases, it may affect the woman fertility and even lead to the woman death.Is is advisable to check a doctor to be properly diagnosed.Now back to the rough answers, those who wants the woman right to chose to abort to remain ilegal, such a measure doesn't prevent abortions, it only affects the pover ones unable to pay for the proper professional procedures and resources. The law doesn't punish abortion, but poverty, and as a lateral effect, it only hides the proble, isntead of avoiding it. The ONLY way to take serious measures to prevent abortion is having reliable information about the problem, in order to manege the required resources take preventive measures, and measure the efforts outcome allowing to increase the measures accuracy. Meanwhile, all fo those who claims they're against abortion by means of bein against the legalization of the woman's right to abort, actually are contributing to the abortion problem.
