Short knifelike pain in abdomen?

I woke from my sleep the other night with a VERY painful knifelike stabbing pain in my upper/middle abdomen area (actually a pretty large area) . It hurt way more when I would twist side to side. I sat up for awhile and it went away in about 5-10 minutes. I had a little soreness in the morning but it was not nearly as bad as the original pain. It doesn't really hurt to push on it or anything. What could have lasted so short but been so painful?

Just a wild guess here, I'm not a doctor......gall bladder attack maybe????

You should consult a surgeon. Could be a stone problem.
The doctor might suggest an ultrasound.
