...fewer privacy rights and government intervention in abortions? if conservatism is based on small government, why is it conservatives that want to take away our civil liberties and interfere with a woman's body? why do they want to regulate who can get married and who can't? isn't the basis of conservatism that it isn't the government's place to make decisions for people?yeah, I just love the way a trashcan full of rotting fetuses smells after a night of romance with pierre. ahh, summertime.

Is it weird that liberals want to tell me what I can read and listen to in America?

Some conservatives advocate small government like Reagan did, some advocate enormous government like Bush has, particularly for reasons of national security or "law & order". Conservatives advocate big government in these areas because they tend to believe that a wealth is a reflection of one's contribution to society, which should be rewarded and protected, not seized and redistributed.Conservatism is a vague term that contains everyone from self-admitted theocrats who literally want a church-based state to moderates like Mitt Romney. The former would advocate as large a government as necessary to punish disobedience to the "laws of God". Romney tolerates many left-wing ideas like socialized medicine and gay marriage.Since most conservatives are religious, and believe in a soul and a God, they don't hold a woman's body to be exempt from the laws of God and therefore she has a responsibility not to murder the life that God has created. They want to "regulate" who can get married because homosexual marriage bears about as much resemblance to real marriage as two kids playing house. Since marriage itself is a regulation of "moral" sexual activity for the purpose of procreation, gay marriage serves no purpose and should not even be called "marriage".Most social conservatives do not mind government telling people what is morally right as long as they agree with the morality. When conservatives speak of small government, they are usually talking about the tax structure and the social services that come from them that they don't want to pay for. If someone can't find a way to make a rich employer richer, they shouldn't be allowed to survive off the government "theft" from the "producers" (or the people who employ the actual "producers").

I think everyone really misses the point of conservatism. I know that there are things that so-called conservatives are doing to bring about this misunderstanding. But, as a conservative I believe that the federal government has no say in what how I live my day to day life. Sure we need certain things; roads, a military, protection from criminals and some regulation of trade. But beyond that, they need to stay out of our affairs and leave certain things to the states and local municipalities. I think that both sides are responsible for treading on our freedoms. And, it's up to us to vote them out. All of you, listen up...vote out the irresponsible in government.

Because right wing Christians want to inflict us with their religious beliefs , to the point of trying to make their beliefs into law, if a women has an abortion, that is between her and her god, not right wing christians , their god and her!Do we really want to be a rigigous state like Iran , I hope not , time will tell if the pendilium will start to swing back towards the middel. Let us act quickly before the right wingers find a way to take away our rights .
