I have pretty sensitive skin in general, but my armpits seem to be worse than any other part of my body. I can only use a few different types of deodorant without getting really severe rashes. Scented deodorants are the ones that cause the worst breakouts and they usually begin occurring within a few hours.

What is the ingredient most likely to cause this so I can look out for it? I can use the same brand of deodorant--scented gives me a rash, unscented doesn't, but I don't see any difference in the ingredients that makes sense.

Here is a tip that I have learned from male drummer friends:

Try a women's deoderant. They all swear they work better than the mens. They are gentler on the skin and do less damage to clothing.

Get an unscented gel type. It could be a hardening agent that is irritating your skin as well. If that doesn't work check a health food store. They will have something without the aluminum something or another (active ingredient in most deoderants, technical term ;)

All the deodrants cause damage to the skin, especially the skin near your armpit is the most sensitive skin present all over the body, So anything applied over armpit must be careful, Use of Women's deodrant can be a temporary cure, but I advise my clients not to go for Deodrants !
