for the past 2 weeks now i have been having strange chest pains on and off all day. at first it wasnt often, but now im getting them about 2 times a day. when i breathe in and my chest expands the pain gets worse. it is on my left side of my chest and i feel like i have to push on it. i cant tell if its my heart or my lungs because when i breathe in it hurts. it goes away after about 5 mins. any ideas? should i be worried? my mom says its from stress. It could definitely be more stress or anxiety, or it could be something much more serious. Ask your self a couple of questions.... What time of day does this pain occur (morning, afternoon, night..)? What are you doing when the pain happens (physical activity, anything strenuous)? What type of pain is it (shooting, aching, crushing, burning)? Does anything (besides pushing on it) bring relief? Does the pain radiate anywhere else (shoulder, back, jaw, arm)? How long does the pain last for?Chest pain can be a pretty serious symptom, so I would definatley go seek medical advice, make sure you can answer those questions for him/her.A few contributing factors could also be your weight, age and current level of physical activity, and of course stress. Heart attacks and angina are not very likely in younger people, but are not unheard of. Angina is momentary chest pain usually brought on by physical activity, or stress but can also happen when resting. It can feel like intense heart burn or indigestion. It is a serious medical condition, and a common symptom of Coronary Artery Disease. Don't worry yourself to much until you have seen a doctor though- you may just have acid reflux!
