is on baby zantac. Now that she is 6 months....? her pediatrician prescribed a daily liquid multivitamin with flouride. I am so afraid that I am putting too much into her system. Zantac is twice a day and the vitamin is once. Has anyone had to do this or give multiple things to their baby? I just don't want to hurt her or her kidneys by giving her too much. Her pediatrician says it is fine.

if she has no problems now with her acid reflux then i wouldn't give her anything anymore. my son had pyloric systenosis and was taking zantac even after his surgery for it. after months and months he grew out of it so i stopped giving it to me. he is now 2 and a very healthy boy.

As hard as it can be sometimes to give multiple medicines, you are protecting your child by questioning it in the first place, but as ultimately trusting a trained professional. If you have more questions or are still unsure, contact a second Pediatrician and get his/her opinion on what you child is taking.P.S. My son and daughter have been on the same type of liquid vitamin for several years.

My daughter is almost 15 months. At 2 weeks she was diagnosed with GERD. They put her on Axid. It did work for a little while but I found that after 3 or 4 weeks, it was no longer working. So I took her off of it. My advice to you is, as her mother, you need to make an assessment of how the Zantac and the vitamins(why they have her on those, I don't know. If she's drinking formula then there is no need for the vitamins) are working. Is the AR bothering her? Is she fussy with her tummy hurting? My daughter still has "burp ups" as you could call them. She refluxes up into her throat, but she swallows it back down before it gets to her mouth. At 6 months of age have you been able to tell how she is reacting now with solid foods and the reflux instead of just runny formula and the reflux? Usually when babies with this get older and start solids, the reflux nearly disappears. Otherwise, stick with what your Dr. is telling you. She won't hurt your baby on purpose. It might, short term, hurt your daughter to take her off of the Zantac, but you can put her back on it. Talk to your Dr. about your concerns. I did and she told me if I wanted to take her off of the Axid and try it, to go ahead and try it.

My youngest daughter was born with acid reflux as well... She is 12 now. She was on liquid multivitamins with fluoride as well and the reason for that is the acid can cause problems with her teeth when they come in and the fluoride is to help combat that. Cheyenne {my daughter} was also on zantac and she had 2 other medications for colic. SO I can totally understand your concern. Your daughters pediatrician isn't going to do anything to hurt your baby and I can tell you from experience that my daughter didn't and still doesn't have any effects from all the medications she was on as a very small infant and child.I hope this helped to some degree..... Good Luck! =)

Well, I think those two things are fine. I'm a mom, and wouldn't have a problem with a vitamin and a medicine. I mean, if she needs it, she needs it. Think of all the REALLY ill children who have to take many, many different meds...Anyway, you might want to re-think your choice of pediatricians, if you don't trust them, and they don't make you feel comfortable after you voice your concern, I would look around. I'm not saying you shouldn't question your doctor, but his/her answer should put you at ease and you should be confident in the medical treatment you're allowing your daughter to receive. Good luck!

Mine had that when she was born we went threw all kinds of milk ,and she still threw up all the time so i started feeding her ceral 2oz burp her then gave her 1 oz of whole milk 30 min to an hour later every time i gave her that zantac she threw up so i didn't give it to her. but the cereal help alot she is 4 now if she eats to much acid foods she still throws up and fusses cause she hurt i have learned when she does this give her a small glass of milk and she don't hurt any more. Good luck u might want to take him off and see if its still bad if it ain't keep him off of it.

When you doubt the methods of your doctor find a new one. My friend went through 6 pediatricians in 2 years because all the kept doing was medicating her baby for acid reflux, gas, ear infections, rash etc. Turns out he was allergic to cows milk and the day she started giving soy he was fine.

My granddaughter was on high doses of steroids and zantac since for a year due to an illness. No adverse side effects noted.

my daughter has it too. she was on prilosec and we took her off after 2 months. she seemed so happy and fine. i started solids recently. but 2 days ago she started screaming and feeling it and spitting up soooo much again. it seems like it has popped back up. we started her on the prilosec again yesterday. As far as solids helping, well clearly it hasnt. to answer how we know when it just dissappers, well clearly i ahve no answer for that either. I guess i just wanna say that given my experience do what the doc says for now and hopefully one day you ( and I ) will know when it is all better for real.hope i helped.
