I started having a toothache last Friday. Called the dentist Sat morning and got started on antibiotic. I have been using Motrin since Friday for the pain. Now I need the tooth extracted, but can't get in to the oral surgeon until the 9th. Is it okay to continue using Motrin to keep the pain away for that long - it will have been 18 days total.

Yes actually that is what my dentist recommended. I used another brand but its proven to work so I switched to Motrin and the pain was all better. Using Tylenol extra strength doesn't even work. So your answer is YES. Motrin will work for you.

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatories like Motrin can be very hard on your stomach. Always make sure you have food in your stomach first before taking it.Do not exceed 3g per day-- Above that you risk toxicity.Get to the oral surgeon as soon as you can, and good luck.
