A friend of mine just had a pretty severe UTI. I've had several in my life and would like to help others avoid the pain, so here is the collective advice I've recieved.

BTW I haven't had a UTI in over fou years now:

Don't hold it! If you have to pee then pee. I used to pull the "there's a rest stop in 30 miles, I can make it until then" routine. BAD IDEA

Make sure you drink more water than anything else- especially if you're a heavy coffee drinker.

Pee after sex. This was a tip a nurse gave me after my third UTI in one year. She explained that (especially for women) penetration (with a partner or a toy) can force naturally occuring bacteria into the urethra. The bateria can spread through the rest of the urinary track and cause an infection.

Thanks for the tips...I drink a lot of coffee, and I fall asleep immediately after sex. LOL!!!

I wasn't aware of the last thing you said, thanks for the tip.

I had a friend with a minor UTI and he said it was quite painful. And it can turn into a hassle if you realize you have it during something important or if your at work.

And yeah holding it in is bad, it's best to get delayed a bit than to end up with UTI.

Water therapy can help prevent urinary track infection. Aside from coffee you have to avoid taking in excessive cola drinks. Drinking tea is also a must since it helps in the filtration and formation of urine.

Thank you for coming up with such an informative topic. Water therapy can do wonders to your urine infections and secondly when it comes to teas- green tea is another miracle.

Most people have to ask why there is blood in urine. Water is just one of the best therapy. In my opinion, because we are lazy to attend the call of nature we avoid to drink water enough. It is even a preventive measure to have blood in our urine.
