My husband was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer - he is only in his early fourty's. - they will remove his prostate - my question is, if he does the robatic procedure, will he keep his errection? If not, what else is out there to help him? I'm afraid, that this will depress him severly (I know I would be depressed). What can I do to help him thru this and also afterwards? Can the cancer society help?

Better chances are he'll keep his errection after robotic surgery. Robotic surgery has advantage over open surgery. With robotic surgery,Surgeon will be able to see the nerves more clearly than open surgery. Which means there is a better chance to keep those nerves safe from lasting harm. For a man who had good sexual function before surgery, it will still take a few months or few years to return to sexual activity. There is no guarantee that you will have complete recovery of sexual function like you had before surgery. However, you will have a better opportunity for recovery
