Death penalty.? While the bible makes oblique references to homosexuality, and none about abortion, it clearly states, "Thou Shalt not Kill".if we're considering constitutional amendments to make the constitution reflect the bible, shouldn't the first amendment we consider ban the death penalty?isn't it interesting how many folks seem to think that killing is okay, but murder is not.

I think there are many references also in the bible where people are killed as punishment so I think it means no murder rather than no kill.

Thou shall kill was translated from the word "ratsach" to mean murder. Murder is the taking of an innocent life. It's killing for the sake of killing. Who is considering constitutional amendments to reflect the bible? What do you mean by the bible makes "oblique" references to homosexuality? Slanted references? Do you mean vague? What's so vague about the story of Sodom and Gomorrah? Isn't this where we got the word for anal sex? Sodomy?

It would be completely unfair to amend the consitution to reflect the bible considering many US citizens do not believe the bible. There are many people who believe in Evolution and science rather than religionAlso if per the bible marriage is to be between a man and women then I don't understand why people who don't belive in god or the bible at all are allowed to be married? It makes no sense.

I like your line of thought, even though I agree with your respondents that the 10 commandments don't preclude a death penalty. What about "turn the other cheek"? Shouldn't we remove the right of the Congress to declare war (not that they use it). And, even though they aren't in the Constitution, abolish the Defense Department and Homeland Security?
