Im so scared! Is my baby OK??? Ok so I contracted a cough from my boyfriends family on Friday night, which escalated into a really extremely bad cough that I think is more than likely bronchitis. Over the weekend the cough started to worsen and has been killing my chest (where my lungs are) everytime I cough. My temp. went up to 100.6 then escalated to 101.7 at the highest. My upper back started hurting as well near my lungs and my throat became extremely sore. I called my OB dr. and he prescribed me amoxicillin, entex, and cough syrup called novahistine. I am so worried that taking all of this medicine might be bad for my baby. It is now Tuesday and I am still coughing really bad and is hurting my chest so extremely bad, luckily the fever and sore throat is gone just wish the cough was gone too! If youve been pregnant before and have or are going thru the same thing as me... I could really use the positive reassurance that my baby's ok & advice on if I should actually go in to the dr and let him check me out. Thx!

I'm sure your babies fine. But If I were you I would go in and get the Dr to have a look at you. I personally dont like the idea of a Dr prescribing something without actually checking you out first.I had bronchitis when I was around 6 months pregnant with my first daughter. I saw a Dr and he prescribed all sorts of stuff (it was 7yrs ago, so cant remember what) but I had inhalers that I had to use as well. And my baby was fine. Just relax, but go and get the Dr to check you out. You and baby will be fine:)

Your baby will be fine. If the meds would in any way hurt you baby the Dr wouldn't give them to you. But I do know what you are going through. As I got that too. I was about 4 months along. I let it run its course. But when I started to have a fever. I made an appt with my regular dr. And she said that it would be best just to take some tylenol for the fever and let it run its course. And if I needed to take something for the cough just to use cough drops. I got the halls fruit breezers that have no menthol in them. Thats not the only thing that happened when I was pregnant though. At 6 months along I got a double kidney infection and a really bad ecoli infection. So I was in the hospital for 5 days on an iv with constand antibiotics. My baby was safe. And came out nice and healthy at 38 weeks and 2 days. I don't mean to scare you if I did.Good Luck.

Your Baby is Fine!... Just get into the Doc dont let it worsen. You need to get on meds.. ( that are of course rx'd by your OB. safe for the baby )Many people get very sick while expecting... its natural, A way of life.. no gettin around it. Your baby is well protected.. and takes away from your immune system to boost its own.. I hope your taking your prenatal regularly ..THEY DO HELP you prevent colds.Ive got a horrible immune system.. and my prenatals have helped a GREAT DEAL! iwork around people who are ALWAYS sick.Congrats on your baby! stay safe
