Two people "briefly" meeting?! Yes, and in the brief meeting, that poor woman was forced down, or drugged, often violently attacked, and her body violated! And then you go on to say it's just God moving in mysterious ways! If that is true, then your God is a messed up as the rapist. Hey Rob W,i think your point is very well taken that people should have convictions. Usually when abortion is discussed the issue is regarding the life of the baby. Those who are against abortion believe that it is murder (which there is a Biblical basis for) and children are indeed a gift from God. And their scare is that if abortion is ever legalized- it would become an advocacy for irresponsible sexual behavior. Many abortions (esp. teen abortions happen) "on accident" due to irresponsible sexual behavior.i think in the case of rape it's easy to take a strong moral stance. But i think you also have to consider the woman in this case. i think if we were in the shoes of a person who was raped we deserve to have some consideration and love. I agree with you that the most loving thing to do is to encourage the woman to have the baby and their are alternatives (such as adoption, etc.) i have read of many cases where woman who have had abortions suffer tremendous depression later.For a woman that has been raped- i imagine that it's a really mixed bag of feelings. There's one sense where she is rehearsing the horrific act- and the baby will only remind her of that-- but there also has to be a sense of guilt if she has the abortion where she made someone innocent suffer- kind of like when she was raped. My point is: We should believe what we believe and we should strongly believe what we believe- but we also need to have some consideration. If someone i knew was raped and wanted to have an abortion- i would do my best to dissuade her and try to share with her these other options- but i'm not going to be so "doctrinal" and call her a "murderer", i'm going to try to love with her with the love of Christ. i've thought of this question before and imagine what if it hit more closely to home: what if it was your sister or your wife or girlfriend who went through that. i guess in a situation like this- there is a time for doctrine and a time for right action. i agree that God works mysteriously and wonderfully. i myself was supposed to be aborted by my parents but my mom brought vitamins instead of her abortion pills on a vacation and by God's grace i was born and am serving the Lord today. So i'm all with you that life is valuable and babies should not be aborted- but i also think that we need to distinguish when is a right time for doctrinal argument and when is a right time to at least try to understand what people go through when they make a decision of this magnitude.Hope that helps. I'm pro abortion as a form of emergency contraceptive so long as the baby hasn't developed to a stage where it is aware of being killed. Yes it could grow up to find a cure for cancer, but it's more likely that it will be raised by parents who aren't responsible enough to stop it from becoming a stupid moron and yet another drain on our crumbling society. Man is the most deputation of the things God has created & he has never been able to find common terms on social issues in his known history, therefore, it is the religions that gave guidelines to mankind to live a good life. So, religiously speaking, abortion in normal situations is prohibited, however, in case of rape I just cannot say!
