I've got an 11 year old male Boston Terrier. He was never neutered until this past August when it was suggested by our vet (to prevent prostate cancer). In October he started having accidents in the house, which had never happened. A few days after the initial accident, blood was discovered in his urine. We brought him to the vet who put him on a medication that seemed to do the trick. But here we are, a little more than 2 months later and we've dicovered blood in the urine again. Is it possible that this could just be another infection or is it something more serious? We won't be able to get him to a vet for a few days because we're due to for a major snowstorm, so I was hoping someone could help give some insight into the situation.

This is something quite serious. It could be 'just another urinary-tract infection' but it could also be something like cystitis (yes, dogs get it too!) or a weak spot in his ureter from the surgery. In any case, get him to a vet as soon as you possibly can! He is in pain, and waiting can cost your dog his life!

I have had a lot of experience with this. I am however NOT A VET! It is very likely that it is just another uti or bladder infection. make sure that your dog is still drinking water and keep him well hydrated. It is still a good idea to let the vet know what you are experiencing even if you won't see them very soon. They may have some things that you can do to help out in the meantime. Watch your dogs eating and drinking habits if either change tell the vet and continue to watch it. Good luck. I am sure that it will be OK.
