waxed? My beautician is nervous about getting the disease and possibly passing it on to others from someone who has hepatitis C! We know someone who is + and she is hesitant about doing her eyebrows. Sometimes blood can be drawn from the hair folicles where the hair has been ripped out. Can she get it if she has a cut on her hand? That is not open just healing? Or do you think there is no chance because the wax was hot when applied. If she touches the blood if there is any by accident? How long can the disease be active outside the body in old/fresh blood? Her salon is very clean and sanitized btw.

If she is having doubts, then, she should wear gloves.

usually transferred by blood (IV, and transfusions). So if you are bleeding, technically yes- you can get it- but chances will decrease greatly if you wear gloves and are careful. 2 most likely candidates for Hep C are Medical workers (from needle sticks) and IV Drug users from needle sharing.alot of people used to get hep c from bad tattoo places many years ago (no one knew much about the disease and re-used needles)In other words, dont play with their blood, and be careful of needle sticks (no worry in waxing, but maybe threading) and wear gloves! You will be cool.

hepatitis C can only live outside of the body for about 18 hours, and NOT longer than 4 days. that's a fact from the american liver foundation, AND the CDC, and not just my opinion. even if it's dried on a razor blade, or any other surface not on the body.I would definitely suggest that your beautician wear gloves just to be safe.
