I'm 26 yrs old, I've been bartending for about 5 yrs now, don't think i'm gonna be doing it for a lot longer, but sometimes i pop this question in my head... what are the chances of ME becoming an alcoholic? I do shots with customers at work and all... but how would you define an alcoholic bartender?

an alcoholic will seek any means to pursue the poison. if you can go to bed without thinking about taking a drink, don't worry. in fact, quit while you're ahead.

dependent on alchohol. Alchohol is only a symptom of other problems that a person has whether mental or emotional. I am an alchoholic.. I drink to forget that i live 3000 miles away from my familiy and that I'm going to be a fuckin cellist in 5 years.. and i want to forget about high school... what do you want to cover up?

Alcoholism is such a vague term. Whether you drink 1 drink a day or 1 bottle a day, you and I are alcoholics. The main differentiation for me is that alcoholics go to meetings and I just go to the bar. Good times!!!

Well let me start by saying I used to be one!!!! lol withdrawel and tolerance are the two most important individual factors to assess your status as an abuser or an addict but you also want to look at other social factors like the people around you or the occupational choice as a pattern of enabling. I also have a degree in Psychology so I know a bit about this stuff. Take your money and run!!!!!! The bar business will eat you alive if you let it. Good luck my friend!
