while getting a body tattoo? I was looking at some tribal designs online, looking for something to draw in my free time, and I've found a lot of really nice designs out there. How much does a tattoo hurt? I wanted to get some designs on my biceps and maybe one on my back. I'm not going to get them some time soon, I'm 15 and I don't absolutely have to have one ASAP. I can wait, but my big question is, how much does it hurt? A lot? Not much? I'm not scared of needles, though.Another thing. You know those Sharpie brand felt pens? If I just kept applying a temporary design to tide me over until the day I get an actual tattoo using a felt pen, would that be hazardous to my skin or health? What about a permanent marker? I'm not planning on doing this all the time, and maybe I won't plan it ever again, I'll just wait until I get an actual tattoo.

I own my own shop in Hollister, California. I have gotten many tattos in my life, the best way to make a tatto not hurt is to just breathe, and just to let you know, it doesnt hurt at all to get one.

Well the amount of pain is different with each person. Everyone has different pain thresholds, so it's hard to say. I have 2 and neither one of them hurt, and they are both on my shoulder blades. During the 2nd one I fell asleep, but I have a very high pain threshold.

I know some people may disagree but my advice? Don't do it! I know they look rad to you now, but have you ever seen an elderly person with tattoos?Think: stretched, sagging skin, and blue-ish purply bruise like tattoos. SO not sexy or cool.If you MUST get one, choose a place where your skin doesn't get alot of movement or sun exposure to minimise ageing around that area of skin. And the Sharpie idea? NOT a good idea for long term, you could risk ink poisoning and it's also really unhygienic!

Hiii, I have two tatoos ,one on my upper shoulder and one on my ankle, and yessssssssssssss it hurts ! Depending on where you get it.The one on my back hurt the worst as it was right over my shoulder blade .I would say on any muscular area is the worst pain ,just make sure you go to a reputable artist and actually seee the equipment and ask how it is cleaned and watch them open needles ,as for the marker thing I'd say definetly don't use a permanent marker ................also think real hard about what you want on you because it willlll be there alll your life ................I don't regret mine at alll .........hope that helps ....: )

It actually depends on the person, your tolerance for pain, and where you get it. The places that hurt the most are where there is more bone and less skin (back, wrist, neck).
