Love them. Respect them. Communicate your feelings. Give a helping hand. Maintain Good company and habits for which your parents are proud. keep your expenses to bare minimum. Assure them what ever you do will not let them down and practice that..

they are ur parents, and they deserve to be treated well, as do u. try hanging out with them, like go bowling or to the cinema or something. u'll find that u start to get close to them without even realising. or do something at home like baking or something. and if ur a busy person, try to fit some time in to discuss your day with them. treat them like u treat ur friends, and you should get along well. hope this helps.

This might be a bit out of character for you but try it.I get along with my parents very well, but I did someone very unusual. I actually sent them a "Thank You" card.It was just to thank them for being great parents! In it I told them how special they are to accept me for who I am, the decisions I've made and how much their influence on my youth guided me toward being a good person with morals etc... You'd be surprised, it made them feel loved and appreciated for their good parenting. It brought us even closer!
