the word chronic means it is there to stay. now on insomnia cause by alcohol withdrawal it can be cured, you have to sleep at same time each night, try to limit your TV in the sala, try soothing music instead in your room during night time, and please drink lots and lots of water during the day to filter down all those alcohol down the drain.Addiction is the word so need your will power to overcome it and not go back to your comfort zone again of drinking alcohol.

Sure it can. Eventually your system will adapt again. But you need to focus on getting a good sleep rhythm. Pay attention to your sleep hygiene and your psychological and physical health.Eat lots of fruit, veg and wholegrain and drink lots of water. This will fuel your body's needs as well as help detoxify your system. Exercise in the day- try yoga or Pilate's, nothing too strenuous. Ensure that you sleep and wake at the same time everyday. If you absolutely have to take something consider Valerian (but definitely avoid sleeping pills-they're addictive).Try drinking hot milk at night before you sleep. For more info visit http://www.howtobeatinsomnia.com
