A few nights ago, I saw on the local news that the state is considering allowing pregnant teenage mothers maternity leave! How insane is that?! I get that there's a problem with the dropout rates, but the kids aren't in school if they're on leave anyway! Heck, we already have on-site daycares in the high schools for the babies/kids of teen students-what's next?Any thoughts?I'm not putting anyone down, just saying I think it's enabling and encouraging in the wrong direction.

I think it's ridiculous. Seriously, teenagers these days need to stop spreading their legs, or at least get on some birth control for Christ's sake!

I think that maternity leave for high school students is something states should have thought of this a long time ago. When your pregnant and in school, you can't just be expected to go back to school the next day. The mom has to bond and heal from the pregnancy. My mum was a teenage mum and she dropped out, but obviously we're not doing too bad considering we have a computer, haha, but yeah, I think its a great idea. Once the mother is done healing and bonding, they should be able to come back to school and continue to receive their education. Just because they got knocked up doesn't mean they shouldn't have a chance at a good job :]
