...someone help with my mental problems? ive been playing for 6 years. i play for my college and when im playing great my mental game has no worries. but if i start missing shots i get pissed. its hard for me to control my temper. i cant seem to let a shot go. i try and try to relax. if i do relax i can do it for a while intill i finally reach a boiling point. im about a 4.5 player. my serve is very effective. my forhand and volleys are legit. my backhand is decent its more of a defensive shot but the technique is their. i think my main thing is my footwork? ne ideas to train for better footwork.

i do not think it is a mental thing maybe it is just that you just do not understand what you are doing

I think you have anger management problems. Tennis should be the least of your worries.

You sound like a great player. Is there a sports psychologist you can talk to in college?Tennis is 75% mental and 25% physical. Between two players of similar standard, the guy who is stronger up there will win.Good luck!

Your not going to win every point....ACCEPT itYour not going to win every game...ACCEPT itYou just need to get the ball over the net once more than your opponent. As for footwork try skipping, and also take up boxing. Now get out their act like a man and play some tennis.

Be positive. Don't think negative. Its fairly simple. We all make mistakes. Don't let it get to you though. Chris Evert once said "Ninety percent of my game is mental. Its concentration that's gotten me this far." If you get frusturated because you lost a point it will affect your game alot. There's one player on my intermediate tennis team who plays really well. But whenever he loses a game or a big point, he loses focus and dwells on the past and his game suffers alot from it. Think positive.

i play a racket sport to and find the same happens to me but i lost games because i got frustrated,i made myself practice in practice games to come from behind and win.it helped me to relax in pressure points and in situations where i would normally get angry!
