http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.aspTake a personality test. Once you have or someone else has you can determine that persons ability to get outside their personality boundries. I took a test years ago and it suggested that I don't like public speaking...I've overcome that (for the most part). Environment effects how the person adapts their core personality (for good or bad)...but personally I think its secondary to the personality DNA..

Heredity is the transferring of genetic character from parents to their off springs. Hopefully of good, strong, and loving traits. The environment includes the surroundings, the conditions, the influences that give the child a comfortable and tranquil atmosphere that give a peaceful and relaxed setting to feel safe in.

You are asking the nature/nurture question. We get our chemical make up/genes from our parents. That plays a role in what we look like, the physiological responses we experience, etc. You need both heredity and the environment to develop. How much does your surroundings shape your development? Nobody knows for sure. With things like mental disorders, they are still asking that question. The environment you grow up in definitly has an effect on who you become, but so do your genes.
