Since yesterday night he's been hurt. Well, so we think. Everytime he tries to sit or get up from laying down, he'll start yelping like crazy until he is finally up! And now he's just laying down and not even moving! He's breathing really fast, and is shivering(He's not cold, he has a BIG warm bed). And also he's starting to kind of whimper when he's breathing as if something is hurting him really bad! I feel so bad 4 him! :(We think he hurt his front leg shoulder, but we're going 2 have 2 wait till Friday to take him to the vet. (Appointments only, so we have to wait till then!) I feel so bad!!! PLEASE if u have any idea what could be wrong, please tell me! I'm so heartbroken, this dog is like a baby to me! (and I'm still a kid...so I hope u can understand) We also think it might be arthiritis though...since he's kinda old (11 yrs to be exact) But please help!!!! I love him :'( and I need help. We already gave him half a motrin to calm the pain. But, what do you think he has? This started BARLEY yesterday around 7pm. Before that he was normal and happy! He was just fine, and all of a sudden around 7 he started acting like that!? It was sooo sad and strange! We couldn't think of how he could of hurt himself, he's mostly inside!!! And we would take him to an emergency vet, but we don't have the money to pay more...that's why we're waiting till our booked appointment,...which is still expensive... :( but yeah...

It's impossible to say other than a guess. If I were guessing, I'd wonder about his back. I've gone through disk problems with my little mini-schnauzer a few times. My vet's dachshund threw hers out yesterday and today was behaving similar to what you're describing. When I pulled her head a bit to give her some pred, she screamed and shivered and slunk off to hide. Poor girl....bad backs are no fun. :O( I wouldn't give him human pain medication except for baby aspirin, or the coated aspirins....many of the human pain medications are toxic to dogs.

Your dog needs to go to the vet NOW. All vets have emergency visits available - but the cost is a little more. Shame on your parents for not taking him for an emergency visit. Check his gums to see if they are deep pink/red like normal. If they are pale he could be in shock. Could he have been hit by a car? There could be internal damage.Arthrits pain is constant and not a sharp pain that would cause him to yelp or shiver or not move. Your dog sounds like he needs help asap.

Im so sorry about your dog :(... You should seriously bring him to a 24h emergency vet, because it sounds very painful for him. My dog has had bad leg problems that required surgery, and he never made sounds or acted as yours is. Consider finding a 24h asap, if you really want to figure out how your dog is doing....Best of luckLISTEN TO KIMBERLY.... SHE SOUNDS SMARTEST, AND I AGREE WITH HER

sounds like something going on in the inside. he might have broken something in his legs and in his lungs.
