our year old choc lab and 13 year old son? The dog is great with everyone else except our son. He seems to regard our son as a threat and barks and threatens him when others in the house are around. It's gotten very concerning. We love the dog and would like to keep him but are concerned he could really hurt our son. We believe our son must have done something to the dog to start the bad turn and he accepts responsibility but we don't know if we can keep the dog. thanks.

Get him to feed the dog and give him treats and to really interact eith it (in a friendly way)Talk to a dog behaviourist if this continues.

Time to have the son take over some of the responsibility for this dog. Have him feed him and take the dog for walks, if possible. This dog also sound like it needs some Obedience training and you son should take the dog to the class. You will need to maintain adult supervision.

Yes, of course it is possible and entirely necessary. Call in a problem dog trainer, right now. NO dog should ever think it is higher up in the pack than a human, as your dog obviously does. Get him into training pronto! And if he is not already neutered, call your vet and have it done now.

If you want to keep this dog, you really should seek the help of a professional trainer/behaviorist who has experience with these kinds of problems. The best thing would be for your son, with the guidance of a professional, to work with this dog to change the behavior.
