View Full Version : Problem with nerves/stomach?

I have been going thru this particular problem for a few months now, and honestly dont know if I should see my Dr. or what. For perhaps the last 3 or 4 months, It seems that virtually every single time I get frustrated, aggrivated, agitated, or in any way my nerves get on edge, my stomach begins to burn and It makes me gag and throw up. If I havent eaten anything I just dry heave until the sensation stops. ( usually the sensation ends within 2-3 minutes) Antacids dont seem to have any real affect, nor do I have any problems with eating or have pain or discomfort at any other time. The problem is, I have an extremely high stress job, ( taking care of severely mentally and physically handicapped individuals so I listen to alot of out of control screaming and physical attacks on a daily basis) And I have a girlfriend with an extremely badly behaved 4 year old child. So I dont know if it could be stress or if it may be an ulcer or what. Any thoughts?

You should see a doctor. When I get anxious I feel sick/throw up and I got some medication from my GP which prevents nausea.They will also be able to check for any other possible problems, such as an ulcer.

I have had this same problem with my stomach for years. Everytime there is anxiety or stress it acts up and I have spoken to a few doctors about it and all tehy say is that it is stress and that i need to find a way to calm myself down. Because it is not a constant thing, pills are not recommended, and it is difficult for the doctor to detect since the doctor has to catch it when its happening. They say everyone has a weak spot or thing and that happens to be mine, I am guessing that is the case for you as well. I have tried a few things that have helped, abnd I know its gonna sound annoying because there is no quick fix, but honestly, exercise and meditation have really helped me, or at leas berathing exercises. Another thing are masages. I found that when I get a massage when I am stressed, my stomach starts to rumble, and eventually it relaxes.
