...Swiss cheese dated 01/02/08? It is a vacuumed packed sliced natural swiss cheese from the local major grocery store I was going to dice up and put in a salad, but I just noticed the date on it is Jan 02, 2008. IS IT STILL SAFE TO USE THIS CHEESE IN MY SALAD TODAY?Thank you (in advance) for your answers!

It's fine. Especially being Swiss type.

Yes... enjoy. I'm not sure if cheese ever goes bad... at least I have never saw any, no matter what the date was. This does not include processed cheese, like what you put on a sandwich.

As long as it was vacuum sealed and no mold on it, it is good. experts say that you can cut the mold off and eat the rest, but i personally can't do that once i have seen the mold. I"m sure it's fine. One thing you have to remember is all GOOD cheeses basically are aged for months, even years. so what is 7 days past an expiration date, right? I say eat it!
I would- it's only off by a week. Just make sure there's no mold.

Unless you see any mold growinh, or the date is way past its time (i.e. my salsa was expired on June 28th four years ago, and I almost ate it yesterday), then it's alright to eat the swiss cheese.
