problems in future? I am 27 and have difficulty handling stress. I also have very bad insomnia; even with sleeping pills I find it hard to fall asleep! I worry about my future mental health. Could I end up with serious problems when I am older?

So, are you awake now? You have a problem. What is on your mind? Your'e an anxoius person , and need to slow down, look arround, relax, life is for living, not stressing, believe me. Dont get to 50, to learn that.x Find a way to be yourself and let go... be a child again... loose yourself in your pleasure... Like you ,I dont sleep, as you can see. Have suffered for many years, I think, to loose yourself in a good book, , if only for a while, is a release., and a nice cup of horlicks.. really helps.

Talk to your doctor about discontinuing the sleeping pills and instead prescibing an anti-depressent (an SSRI) like Lexapro, Effexor, or Celexa to help you deal with the stress and control anxiety. Also request an anti-anxiety med that you can take at bedtime such as Lorazapam or Alprazolam instead of a sleeping pill, I have problems sleeping at night too. I was taking .5 mg of Alprazolam, it didn't really do the job, so the doctor discontinued and prescribed Lorazapam 1 mg along with 40 mg a day of Celexa. Works wonders, I have an EXTREMELY stressful job in healthcare as Administrator to 2 assisted living facilities and now I sleep like a baby and am handling the stress of my job and life with 2 little ones at home so much better. Hope this helps
