Your question is moot. In the U.S. They do not need parental permission as a matter of law.

No.There are too many circumstances where gaining parental consent may have consequences. The decision to have a child rests with the woman. End of story.

Yes, I believe they should-Because this is a medical procedure that does have complications that could prove to be fatal. It is also important to be aware as a parent what your child has done to their body so that you know when to worry/ not worry as the case may be.

Nope, whats to stop the parent from forcing the child to have an abortion if this is in place? It is what this would lead to.

Yes. They need their parents consent for everything else.

Yes, the parents should know what there daughter is doing. By not telling them they have card blanch to do as they please and use abortion as a birth control. Not to mention that abortion is wrong in every sense nature. Parents should already know what there children are doing and keep some control but mistakes do happen. That is why they should be notified, even if the child is just getting a pregnancy test.

most def!!!!!
Yes - they're still minors...in other words..the parents still have to take responsibility for them...so, until they're of legal age, yes.
First of all if you are that young you don't need to have a baby! But if you do then yes!

No, there are some parents who are not fit. There is this father who impreginated not only his daughter, but years later he impreginated his daughters daughter. Family incest and other things show that just because you are a parent, it does not mean you have the judgment to totally rule over all aspects of your childs life.

Apparently those of you that answered "no" to this question don't have children. And if you do have children you lack parental concern for your child. I agree with the law in the US that a child under 18 must have parental consent to have an abortion.

should a female under 18 need her parents' permission to ride in a car? keep in mind, that would be every time she wants to do that.does she need her parents' permission to cross the street?how about to eat sushi?or to get a strep throat test?an abortion is a medical procedure. she shouldn't need her parents' permission for it.

Should girls under the age of 18 require parent's permission before they spread their legs? Should boys? Everyone should be aware of the end results of sex; as fun as it is it is still a way of procreation, not merely sport. Maybe society shouldn't sexualize everything in a child's life until one feels obligated to engage in intercourse before they are mature enough to prepare for that eventuality.

Yes. And, when you're a parent you'll understand why.

I'm thinkin' probably. After all, underage girls have to have parental consent for just about every other medical procedure, why should abortion be any different? I think most parents would like to know what their daughters are planning to do before they have the abortion. Perhaps they can work out another option or be there for her when she goes through it.
Yes, parents should be aware that their under 18 daughter is getting pregnant so they can give her a whooping.

No. Under absolutely no circumstances should a girl need parental consent. At the most, judicial bypass is an acceptable alternative - where a court would decide whether or not it is in the child's best interests to override the lack of parental consent. It is the girl who will ultimately have to bear the burden of becoming a parent - for their entire life, not just until they become 18 - so the parent should have no input into the decision. I understand parents want to control every aspect of their child's life, but some things are private, and one of the most important things is a medical procedure, especially as it relates to the decision on whether to become a parent, bring a child to term, or terminate a pregnancy. If a parental consent is required, all that would occur is the parent forcing their personal desires upon the child who will have to deal with the consequences.

A simpler answer is to make all infanticide (abortion) illegal. Then questions like this are irrelevant.
