I am intrigued if there are a number of women who uses injectables as their birth control method. I am personally afraid to use it because you will not be able to have your period for months...which is not good because you will not know if you're pregnant or not. How effective is this method?

well, as i am concerned i think injectables contraceptives are quite very good and easy method for birth control process because if you use this once then there will be quite few months excuses. you will not need to worry everyday for eating pills. but ofcourse as everyone says, there is some problem because of irregular menstruation.

Every woman is different. Some women do still mestrate with injectables, though it's usually lighter. It does usually take longer to concieve after stopping injectable forms of birth control compared to other forms.

The type of shot most used is called Depo-Provera. It is a hormone, much like the progesterone a woman produces during the last two weeks of each monthly cycle. Injectables stop the woman's ovaries from releasing an egg and has other contraceptive effects.
I think it is safe and reliable. I'm talking based on actual experience. My girlfriend resorts to that instead of taking in pills. I also prefer that way because it enhances her sex drive.
