I just wanted to thank everyone for all of your help, we were able to find homes for two of our poms last night. It's been very hard on everyone. It’s like a death in the family, we all cried, me, my kids. I hate this. My youngest took it the best, she said she'd miss them, but she knows it's effecting her health. We still have to find homes for the rest and that feels pretty horrible. I have a question though. After last night, they are reluctant to give up the other three. These three have the longest hair, thick double coats, one is almost triple. They were hanging on to them like the dogs are their life force. I feel terrible even though I know I'm doing the right thing by my daughter who is extremely allergic to them, buy our hearts are broken. Since our Poms have such thick coats, is it possible that I build a big insulated dog house for them? Would that be alright? The look on their faces, kills me. They don't blame me, they know the reason, they just don't want the rest to go.Yes, she's on meds and a nebulizer, it's not helping much.

Pomeranians are not designed to live outside. They are a toy breed. Do what is best for them and find them a caring home.

I am no expert, but I don't think Poms are suited well for outside living, even if the dog house was insulated. They need to be a part of the family inside of the house. Have you considered any type of allergy shots or meds for your daughters? Also there are many breeds of dogs that most people are not allergic to. A Shih Tzu is one of those. I am so sorry you are having to give up your pets, and I hope you can come up with a suitable alternative to rehoming them.

I’ve been following your story from the beginning and I know this is tough for you. Poms can be left outside for a few hours, but never over night, they are very family oriented and it could cause behavioral problems if they feel rejected. If you do build a dog house, just make sure you bring them in at night and confine them to the kitchen, someplace that you can sweep and mop. Your situation isn’t easy, but your kids comes first. Just take a couple of days to get your head clear, your kids will adjust, it’s a part of life. This whole situation breaks my heart as well, I love Poms so much, I wish I could take them off your hands.

Sorry, but Poms should not live outside. It's best for them to get a loving home. Why don't you ask the prospective homes if you and your kids can visit every once in a while? That may make it easier for them.

Aww that's really sad! No Pom's are not outside dogs at all. It doesn't matter how thick their fur is. They are just too small to be outside in the elements for too long. I know this is just breaking your hearts but it is better to just give them to someone who will really take very good care of them.I'm sorry!
