I was doing some research and have yet to find anything related to "Pre-cervical Cancer" going away on its own. 6-7 Years ago I had an abnormal pap and was told it was Pre-cervical cancer but not HPV related. I cant remember anymore details. At the time I didnt have health insurance and was scared and did not look anymore into it HOWEVER I did continue with my yearly pap. Is it possible to have pre-cervical cancer and leave it untreated and that be that, and count your blessings? Or will it generally come back at a later stage?Cancer and Cervical cancer does run in my family.... I am now going to have a laproscopy on other unrelated matters but was told my my GP (General Practioner) that pre-cervical cancer usually "pops" up again at some point. However being new to living in another country I dont know the medical system here or if statements as such are true. I was thinking it would be best to have a biopsy to be certain but know that there are possible complications with any procedure as such.

HPV is the number one preventable cause of cervical cancer, but not the only cause. If you have a colposcopy done today, the tissue will be examined and screened. If you are clean now, you are CLEAN :)The prior pap, the one you had some suspicious tissue on, may have likely had suspicious possibly "pre cancerous" tissue, but has never come to anything. And I assume the yearlies since have been benign. So you are A-OK based on these findings. And after 3 years of normal paps you can skip to once every 3 years per AMA recommendations if you are 20-60-s.

I don't know where to start here. I've somewhat read most of the answers given prior to mine.I went every year for my paps, insurance or not. The first time I was diagnosed with an abnormal pap was a year and a half ago. I had already had a partial hysterectomy and then one ovary was removed a little over a year later. I went into post-menopause and was somewhat using a hormone patch. After the partial, pap was good, the year after somewhat using the hormone patch not good.Went back to the doc and he told me up front that it wasn't cancer. I still had the procedure done to make sure and everything was fine and has been for the last 2 years. That was the one and only time a pap came back wrong. It could have been the lab making a mistake (it's been known to happen) and you never really had the diagnosis of pre-cervical cancer. If cancer was there, it would have shown up by now. The other thing, does this type of cancer run in your family that you're aware of?

Get gardisil.....my friend had the same thing and they gave it to her....there is now almost no chance it will turn to cancer (u can go get the shots free at planned parenthood)
