I am nearly 33 weeks pregnant and have just noticed over the weekend and continueing, that my heart feels like it beats harder every few minutes to every ten minutes. Has anyone else had this or has anyone got any professional advice on the matter? I havent called the doctor or anything as I dont know if it's something to bother them over.(I didnt have this with my first pregnancy)

My heart felt like it would skip a beat literally when I was pregnant, and sometimes I could see my heart beating because it was beating so hard. My doctor said there was nothing wrong with me. Asking your doctor is the safest thing to do in my opinion.
I had this throughout my pregnancy, especially the first two trimesters (not so much in the third). Anyway, it's pretty normal. It's due to your blood volume increasing by as much as 50% when you're pregnant, to supply blood/oxygen/life to the baby. Your heart's working hard!If it's accompanied by dizziness, nausea or anything else that makes you nervous give your doctor a call right away. Don't feel like you're bothering them...that's what they're there for! Call if you feel you should, even to just set your mind at ease.BTW congrats!

Hi had this through all 5 pregnancies, I was told by my midwives that it was a direct result of my anaemia have you had your bloods done recently it may be you are anaemic?

This is VERY common. Your body is making room for all that extra blood so your heart might feel like it's skipping a beat. I actually have a minor heart condition that involves my heart hitting my chest wall. It's not a serious problem but I called my cardiologist when it seemed to increase in frequency during my pregnancy. They told me not to worry and that they frequently see pregnant women just for this reason. That being said, you should still bring it up to your OB or midwife, but try not to worry too much in the meantime.

I started feeling the same about 4 weeks ago - and VERY out of breath (I am now 21 weeks pregnant). The one day it got so bad, I went straight to A&E from work to get it checked and they monitored by heart beat for a while and did some basic simple checks and said all was fine. They suggested that as normal, my heart is beating faster to pump the extra blood supply needed and my lungs are not as big as they were as everything is getting cruched upwards so thats why I was out of breath and I had got dizzy etc maybe because I was panicking and drawing in too much oxygen to quickly by trying to catch my breath - ie, a mild panic attack! So therefore, I wouldnt worry too much but suggest you do the same as me and get your midwifes/doctors opi9nion so as to stop u worrying!

Hiya hun,I had a similar problem, my heart rate was faster than the babys with my 2nd pregnancy. I was observed, an sent to a cardiologist after birth to make sure it was settled. They said it was a pregnancy thing,.Good luckxxx
