Westie Red Eyes...?

I've heard of red/pink eyes with Westie Terriers, but I don't know much bout it. I've been noticing the past few days/weeks that my (female; exactly 1 year old; purebred Westie) dog is getting pinkish around the eyes. I'm wondering what actually causes it? and is it very contagious/infectious/serious? people say it's from tears or something, but does that mean simply TEARING, or do dogs cry? /:) should i get her a therapist? lol

Some Westies have weeping eyes which may be caused by an eye infection, clogged tear duct, or hair touching the eyes which causes the eyes to weep and therefore causes stains. Consult your vet
