I was in the same situation once after spending five years in the military. I really started to miss her and appreciated her more than ever. I wanted to make up for lost time.So I got her email address and her phone number and I started emailing and calling more often. I tried to remember important events like her birthday, Mother's Day and Christmas. I would try to send cards and gifts for her kids on their birthdays and I would find perfect gifts for her or I would send her a little cash when she was down. This isn't "buying her love" to me. I felt like I was finally helping her out after not being very concerned about her for so long.If a long time had passed since we last emailed or spoken, I would make sure to call her or email her to let her know I was thinking of her.I also tried to be more involved in her life in terms of talking about our feelings, guy problems and so on. Since we don't live in the same state, it's hard to get together but if you live close to your sister, you should start an event together. Like having lunch once a week or getting together to cook and have some margaritas every now and then. If my sister was close I would love to be able to go to the movies every other week with her and see the scariest thing available.After the initial awkwardness, your true love and concern for her will come through.
