now I have bronchitis? I 've had it before so that's how i know it's bronchits. The doctors won't come out and they won't let me go to them because of the vomiting bug. I understand that and I feel too weak to go to the doctors anyway, I've gone through two bottles of benylin but I can't stop coughing and I have had no proper sleep for nearly two weeks. Does anyone know if there is a herbal cure? Also I have ashma, so I can't take pain killers.

If you have bronchitis, you should not take a cough suppressant as the coughing actually helps you get rid of the excess mucus. If your sputum is becoming thicker or coloured, you really need to get antibiotics from your doctor. Basically, stay at home, drink plenty of fluids, keep warm, try a vaporiser or inhaling eucalyptus oil over a steaming bowl of water. If you have ANY trouble breathing you should really go to your doctor.

I think it's terrible that you can't go to the doctors. Go to the ER at your nearest hospital, or if you're really weak, call 999 and get an ambulance. It sounds as if you need antibiotics, and it could even develop into pneumonia. What is the matter with your doctor? You should report them to the General Medical Council.

you can take paracetamol, just not ibuprofen (I'm asthmatic too). I have exactly the same as you. I have had a chest infection for a few months now and have had to have xrays because of the pain I am in. try sucking some chocolate. sounds strange I know, but it actually coats the back of the throat and helps ease the pain a bit. also try propping yourself up with pillows when you go to bed. I am sat here now with a bottle of benylin, good job I like the taste.edit to Maggie - it's this vomiting bug that is going around. hospital wards are closed, people are being told to stay in and not go to their GP's if they have it. it is really contagious so the advice is to stay in until at least 2 days after the symptoms abate.
