chat rooms? What advice would you give to them?As far as I can see it makes people worse. I used to use one my self until I realised the unreality of it was destructive. And I have no problems (as far as I know)lol. But I have seen it's effect on personality.Frankie I did say as far as I know. But I do know that I'm a stable person in my life and I think that's a positive guide. Everyone has times when they are vulnerable and I have had my times.Stella yes me to. I understand where you are coming from.

Too much time on the computer can give many health problems. There is still a stigma attached to mental illness so I think a lot of people tend not to seek the help they need.

It is easier for a person with mental problems to communicate behind a barrier like the internet. In real life people judge others very quickly but on the internet no one knows the difference.

Firstly I have to say I know that however any one else has picked this up Mrsb wasnt saying people with mental health problems should or should not be in chat rooms. But I too have noted the amount of ppl I regularly talk to have depression issues..one in particular was sacked from work as he couldnt keep awake...yet he was on line at 2/3am in the morning writing emails! Everyone is different and the world would be boring in the least if all were the same..but social interaction is necessary not just chat rooms (I have learnt that if you turn off your puter life still moves on)

Chat rooms are the only place where the level of conversation is so low, that anyone of any mental ability can take part. They provide a useful service so why complain about them?

I have a history of mental health problems. I like to help others, hence my name psychclaire and my employment.
