I am doing a seminar on alcoholism in relation to the book Ellen Foster. The book is about this girl, Ellen, and her father is an alcoholic. He abuses her and does other horrible things, and eventually overdoses on alcohol and dies. What questions could I ask the class to keep them participating in a discussion relating to alcoholism? Anything would be greatly appreciated! THANKYOU!

you could ask them if they've had any problems with alcoholism, what part alcohol plays in their communities, what they think is the right path to take concerning drinking alcohol and what could would they do when confronted with Ellen's situation?just a few thoughts.

hope this helps =] -Treatment of AlcoholismFor alcoholics who have decided to get help for their drinking problem there are many different treatment programs and approaches available, but there is no medical cure.Diagnosis of Alcoholism-Diagnosing alcoholism can be tricky, since the diagnosis depends on the drinker being willing to honestly answer a series of questions about his or her drinking patterns and attitudes.-Symptoms of AlcoholismThere are many symptoms of drinking problems, but there are seven major symptoms of the most severe drinking problem, alcohol dependence or alcoholism.-What Is Alcoholism? The term alcoholism refers to a disease known as alcohol dependence syndrome, the most severe stage of a group of drinking problems which begin with binge drinking and alcohol abusealso:What do we mean by alcoholism? Is alcoholism a disease? Is alcoholism inherited? Can alcoholism be cured? Are there any medications for alcoholism?Does alcoholism treatment work?Does a person have to be alcoholic to experience problems from alcohol? Are certain groups of people more likely to develop alcohol problems than others? How can you tell whether you or someone close to you has an alcohol problem? If I have trouble with drinking, can't I simply reduce my alcohol use without stopping altogether? How can a person get help for an alcohol problem? If an alcoholic is unwilling to seek help, is there any way to get him or her into treatment? What is a safe level of drinking? Is it safe to drink during pregnancy? As people get older, does alcohol affect their bodies differently?Does alcohol affect a woman's body differently from a man's body?I have heard that alcohol is good for your heart. Try these:Do you think anyone you know is in this situation? How would you feel if you did know someone in this situation? How would you help someone in that situation?Would you help them even if they didn't want help? What would you do in this situation?

not every alchoholic abuses their children make a point of that.but point out alchol dependance ruins the alcholics life aswell as people living with a alcoholic, but not all abusive but it distroys familys.and it can be cured .
