Blood in urine?

Hello, my friend is having problems. When he goes to the bathroom he has blood in his urine bright red, not a lot of blood but it comes out in clots and he has a lot of pain. He has pain in his lower back and a little feverish. The symptoms lasted for a 1 week. He has dranked a lot of water and cranberry juice and now the symptoms went away. Does anyone know what this might be. He will be going to the doctor soon.

Besides an infection he could also be passing a kidney stone although fever is not typical with stones. It certainly deserves a visit to a health care provider.

Yes, please have him see the doctor as soon as he can so they can pinpoint exactly what is wrong. You can still have blood in the urine at the microscopic level even if you cannot see it.Hope he is all better soon.
