health care worker (doctor, pharmacist)? I have a friend who is interested in the medical field but he is infected with hepatitis since birth. The infections is benign and it does not cause any symptoms. He is unsure whether he can work in the medical field fearing contaminating others. If he can work in the medical field, is there any restrictions?
If that is okay, so criminals can be police too.

Chances are excellent that he can NOT work in a situation where there is direct patient care. He most likely would have to answer questions about this, and/or be tested if he were going to work in the United States.A job as a Pharmacist doesn't appear to have that kind of restriction that I know of, but again, it is a very good possibility.

He should be fine to pursue a medical career. Everyone practices "universal precautions" to protect provider and patient from blood born pathogens. He could check with the licensing board in his state if he would feel better though.
