...sharp inhalation? Recently, I have been experiencing a sharp pain just by the left side of my sternum. It doesn't occur frequently though, probably less than five times a month. However, it lasts for a couple of hours and happens only when I move in a particular way and when I inhale sharply. I have yet to spot any definite pattern to this - it just happens at random moments. I doubt it's anything cardiovascular. I exercise regularly and do not eat unheathily. However, I'm still concerned. Thanks!

sounds like what your experincing is gas.People tend to think it only stays in your stomach but it actually moves around and can even get up in your upper chest and sides.Sometimes you can breath deep and feel it rushing through your rib cage..it can be quite painful.Eatting heathy doesnt control it either because most veggies produce gas.

My wife had something just like that, and the doctor told her it was a strained chest muscle. It resolved in a couple weeks. It also strikes me that you might have a displaced rib. A chiropractor or osteopathic doctor can help.A great way to test whether a mid-chest pain is from acid reflux, is to stand up straight and just drink a glass of cold water. If it instantly resolves the pain, chances are good that it is reflux. But, ALWAYS take chest pain seriously and go to the ER or see a doctor.
